Discussion on treating skin of color is still too often summed up with a few sentences that state skin of color is more challenging to treat and therefore requires additional classes to learn about. Information about ethnic skin is still missing in standardized esthetics textbooks but may be located in separate "other" books that are not carried as a part of a common curricula.
It is the mission of Fearless Beauties:
"The claim that "everyone is beautiful" is professed loudly and frequently by cosmetic brands, however it should be validated by making services, treatments, and products available to all ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds. As Americans, we need to recognize and legitimize that minorities within our country may have different standards of beauty and different ways of honoring and respecting beauty. By developing a more inclusive education, we elevate our entire industry."
- Mary Nielsen, Author and Course Creator of Fearless Beauties
